Hiring a boat is the ideal way to explore the Athenian Riviera and the surrounding Argosaronic islands. Greece offers 315 days of good weather on average throughout the year and has hundreds of organized beaches in the Attica region. The islands have many more secluded beaches that make a yacht charter from Athens not just a simple cruising experience but an ethereal journey that captures one’s heart. The Attica region has an abundance of marinas that all offer great services and you can easily find the ideal catamaran, sailboat motor yacht or speedboat you desire. You can directly contact the owners or allow a BednBlue travel expert to guide you with some suggestions.

You have plenty of available options:

You can book and hire a sailing boat with a captain, with or without a license, and enjoy a one-day cruise to the nearby islands of Aegina and Agistri. If you are under a tight time constraint but you want to visit many places at once, the ideal type of boat for you is typically a powerboat (either a motorboat or a speedboat) with which you can cruise to further destinations like Kea or Tzia on the same day. You can hire a yacht or a catamaran to simply throw a party onboard or celebrate a bachelor/bachelorette party which is without a doubt, a memory that will stay with you forever. Finally, Athens is particularly close to the Cyclades where you can also rent a boat and enjoy your summer holidays.

Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. Millions of visitors from all over the world arrive here to educate and appreciate the birthplace of democracy and philosophy or to descend to an island such as Santorini or Mykonos. Although this ancient city is known for the Acropolis which stands as the hotspot in Athens for over 2,500 years, the major source of wealth and glory is thanks to the picturesque ports and sea that enclose the historical remnants.

At the southern side of Attica, the temple of Poseidon is situated at the top of the cliff at Cape Sounion. Besides being a place of worship, it marked as an Aegean checkpoint for many ancient Athenians. The sea route between Athens and Sounio is known as the Athenian Riviera. Every year visitors from all over the world choose to rent a boat as it offers a better alternative to navigate the area and rewards them with endless destinations that have their own unique beauty. Palaio Faliro, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Agia Marina, Saronida and Anavissos are some of the few destinations that are worth visiting on a one-day cruise in the Athenian Riviera.

Near Athens are the Argosaronic islands. In fact, the Saronic Gulf is enclosed by Attica and the Peloponnese regions and the Argolic Gulf is the second bay which is formed by Spetses giving a closer proximity to Hydra. The Saronic Gulf is great for one-day tours from Athens, and in the event that you choose to book a sailboat or catamaran, Aegina and Agistri are great options to consider. If you still want to visit Methana or Poro, then the best option is to hire a motor yacht due to the fast cruising speed they provide. The Argolic Gulf which is a little further from Athens, is ideal for 2 or 3 day charters. Hydra, Spetses, Tolo and Nafplio are some of the few destinations that are definitely with the visit too.

Once you book a yacht from Athens, the Cyclades is one additional great vacation spot. The nearby islands to Athens including Serifos and Sifnos are recommended for 3-day charters with a sailboat as you safely dock into their protected ports. Perhaps you want to explore further islands such as Astypalaia or Amorgos whilst making stops to islands such as Mykonos, Santorini, Milos or Naxos, catamaran yacht charter would be the best option then as you can spend nights in the spacious cabins they offer and anchor in open bays.
