The island is diverse with rich contrasts, the north is more mountainous and great for hiking adventurers, the south is fertile with famous mastic trees that produce a precious resin and the east side has impressive cliffs that arch the hidden seas. The capital of Chios, Hora has a long history of timeless traditions influenced by colossal powers that will make you travel back in time. You can wander around the coast or stroll through the center where you will catch sight of Ottoman structures, Neoclassical mansions and the imposing castle of Chios. If you have more time, you can visit the medieval mastic villages, plenty of which you can pick from. Armolia renowned for ceramic pottery, Kalamoti covered with fruit trees and olive groves, Mesta known for the best wines in the island and agritourism activities, Olympi with a cave made of stalactites, Vessa where you can wonder in the cobblestone alleys and Pyrgi being the largest mastic village on the southern side of the island.
