Rhodes is globally recognized for its timeless traditions and it’s cosmopolitan and contemporary nature. Rhodes will most certainly capture your heart with its wealth of attractions and history. The old town of Rhodes is the best preserved medieval settlement and has been included and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The street of the knights is a charming street of Rhodes which represents palatial residences of 7 different nationalities and will make you gasp in wonder. Walking in the cobble streets, you cannot miss the chance to visit the Palace of the Grand Master which stands as the centerpiece of the walled town, this significant landmark was in fact used as the last line of defense to protect the village during the Byzantine empire. The time capsule that exists within the imposing walls of Rhodes from the past that stand still to the present has symbolized the old town as the ‘coat of arms’, and is one of the very reasons why you must visit this wonder of the world during your summer holidays.

The bronze wonder of the ancient world, The Colossus of Rhodes, at some point stood at the entrance of the city’s harbor. The ships would sail under the feet of the statue of the sun-god Helios and at night the passage was closed with a gargantuan chain. One of the most important archaeological sites in Rhodes is the ancient Acropolis of Lindos, standing 116m above sea level and surrounded by the walls of the knights. Here you will get to see the impressive Doric Temple of Athena Lindia, featuring the 4th century village of Lindos which is Built on a spectacular hilltop above an earlier temple and remains to be the most popular village of the island.

If you are a lover of the sea or a so-called ‘thalassophile’ (from the Greek words filos and thalassa), the island of Rhodes will reward you with a variety of beaches that have a unique beauty and they can be toured by a simple boat charter. Kiotari beach offers daily cruises along the east coast of Rhodes and you can reach the famous beach of Prasonisi which has emerald waters where windsurfers and lovers of watersports can’t seem to get enough of. Anthony Quinn is also a renowned beach where you can spend a leisure day sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling with a catamaran. Setting out from Kolymbia which is 21km from the town of Rhodes, you can tour the scenic beaches of Agia Agathi, Kokkini Ammos (red sand) and the famous Tsambika beach with a speedboat.
